Whether you're a drone enthusiast, experienced adventurer or a curious beginner, the first flight is always an exciting moment. To make sure your inaugural flight is smooth and enjoyable, we've put together some essential tips and a pre-flight checklist that you’ll find invaluable.
Preparing for Takeoff
Before you head outdoors, there are a few important preparations to make:
- Choose the Right Location: Head to a spacious, open park or field where there are minimal obstacles and people. This will give you plenty of room to manoeuvre and avoid potential collisions.
- Check Your Gear: It's crucial to ensure that everything is in top shape before you head out. Here’s what you need to verify:
- Fully Charged Batteries: Make sure your drone, remote control, and phone are all fully charged.
- SD Card: Insert an SD card into your drone to record videos and capture photos.
- Gimbal Protector: Remove the gimbal protector to ensure smooth footage.
- Safe Takeoff Area: Confirm that you are in a designated fly zone and a safe area to take off.

Powering Up and Pairing
Once you're out in your chosen location, follow these steps:
- Power On: Turn on your drone and the controller.
- Pair the Devices: Open the drone app on your phone and pair it with the drone. This is where you’ll set up the connection between your phone and the drone.
- Wait for Satellite Acquisition: Allow your drone a minute to acquire satellite signals. You’ll know it's ready when you see “Ready To Fly” on the app.
